What does it mean to be a Palmer Scholar?

  • Be a junior in high school Fall of 2018

  • Identify as a person of color, bi– or multi-racial

  • Actively involved and a leader in school and the community

  • Minimum 2.0 GPA

  • Pell Grant or Free/Reduced Lunch eligible*
    *Some exceptions may apply and a written statement must be included in the application to explain your financial situation

What is the commitment?

  • Attend one to two trainings per month between spring semester junior year through the summer after graduating high school.

  • Trainings are during the week in the evenings and dinner is provided.

  • Attend Palmer Scholar events throughout your time as a Scholar.

  • Be an active participant at all trainings and events.

What are the benefits of being a Palmer Scholar?

  • One and a half years of college readiness and life skills training.

  • A Palmer Scholar Mentor from senior year in high school through college graduation.

  • Up to $5,000 in scholarship per year for up to five years towards higher education.

  • Networking, internship, and job opportunities.
